This Week: Robbie Didio – Handy Man Services

Robbie, born in Oakland, lived in Pleasanton his whole life. Lives in family house with brother and niece.  Daughter (43)is a CFO in Auburn Hills.

Attended JFK university, has over 100 unites but never graduated, they call him “The unit collector”.

Enjoyed working at Sunol Valley golf course for 26 years for Frank Ivaldi – Built up to 16 million dollars with Weddings and corporate tournaments. Left in 1998 with a healthy severance and retirement package.


Started Furniture business with his mother in 1998. General maintenance and Paint work – inside and outside (trim, gutters, windows, fences) 3 guys who help him with the turn around of jobs.


Here are some tips to keep in mind (if you decide to tackle it yourself)


Robbie does not re-finish furniture he re-conditions furniture with a 6 step process

  1. Howards cleaner – Clean the furniture
  2. Paper mask + Gloves
  3. Min Wax (Match the color to the chart) to cover scratches – applied with paint brush – Let dry and at least 50 degrees outside
  4. Make sure it is not sticky
  5. Apply polish – Let dry
  6. High gloss spray (with application gun) very slow


Note: Never use a wire brush on furniture – Sanding block is okay,

Teak Wood: Benches and boats

Hardest wood but best to work with

Do not paint or coat teak!

Use a rejuvenating oil


Spray base first

Spray top and sides second

Re-upholster furniture

Take off material one at a time

Make sure parts (wood and cushion are good)

Start from the bottom and work your way up

Repair of drawers:

Quick grips + Gruella glue

Touch up pens okay

He DOES recondition kitchen (and bathroom) cabinets and baseboards etc.
